At my recent scheduled six monthly check I mentioned a concern I had with a very small blister on my lower jaw gum. This was quickly investigated and an X-ray was also taken. It was confirmed as localised periodontitis in a lower left central incisor. A thorough check, clean and polish of all other teeth was undertaken. I was advised to have further three monthly checks done by a hygienist to check, clean and monitor the condition, in addition to continued six monthly check and polish sessions. This careful and in depth examination, at what I assumed would be routine, has re-assured me of the caring and professional service given to me, and has further reinforced my full confidence in this dental practice and its staff.

Joined Snape Hill Dental Studio when we moved to Dronfield some seven years ago. Having previously had an awful experience and outcomes with our NHS dentist in Clay Cross we decided to go private. Head Receptionist Dee is brilliant and I have had excellent dental care from Kathy and Sharron. Both my wife and myself use Snape Hill and couldn’t recommend them enough. Very reasonable price plan as well for the quality of the care given. Thank you.

Emergency treatment was superb. Options for pain and infection solution discussed. Two extractions of broken infected teeth not straight forward but done efficiently with no pain during or after numbness wore off! No need for pain killers. Brilliant experience has to be100 out of 100. Many thanks.

I have recently had treatment done on my teeth and I have to put it out there that Mr Usman Akbar has done a fantastic job ... I had the enlighten whitening treatment and also in office whitening ... Then composite bonding and I'm very happy with the final results .. I feel much more confident now when I smile ... Thank you 😁

I am lucky that although I am getting on in years I need very little remedial work, thanks to the very thorough and professional attention I get at my six monthly check ups. The practice is well run and appointments are always on time with very short waiting room times. I have been able to retain the same dentist over many years and this, I feel, helps to maintain a good relationship with a person who is very aware of my dental status and needs. I am very happy with this practice and its staff members.

Having just moved to the area, I was on the search for a new dentist. I’ve now had my initial consultation and a hygienist visit, and I have to say, the service is impeccable. From the receptionist, dental nurse and the dentist himself all giving a first class service and the procedures themselves being virtually pain free. Both myself and husband have signed up to their dental plan and am happy to say, will be clients for life.

Dr Ellen Newton

Dr Ellen Newton qualified in 2006 at the University of Sheffield and has worked in general dentistry since then developing her skills and understanding in many areas of general dentistry including aesthetic dentistry, smile design, gum disease, orthodontics, jaw joint problems, sleep apnoea, and full mouth rehabilitation.

She joined the practice in December 2020 bringing with her a “whole-body” approach to dentistry. Her methodology includes consideration of:

diet and nutrition,

microbiome management,

the immune system status and underlying health issues,

the biocompatibility of dental materials, implants and root treated teeth,

the function of the jaw joints, muscles, their interactions and understanding
of system stability and common disharmonies.

the patency of the airway and its effect on sleep and overall health,

the role of Myofunctional Therapy in treating children and adults with airway and jaw development problems.

new techniques for optimising healing and regeneration.

Ellen works closely with Functional Medicine doctors and will refer patients if she sees something in the mouth that could indicate an underlying problem. “The effect of body chemistry and mechanical and biological function is of paramount importance in overall health and we must respect this in dentistry also. Making things look as beautiful as they are healthy is what I aspire to!”

Ellen is SMART certified for the safe removal of amalgam fillings, and also uses the PRF treatments for after extractions for improved healing and bone regeneration. Ellen provides simple aesthetic orthodontics at present but is looking to start providing functional orthodontics in the future for optimising good jaw relationship development, airway health and beautiful smiles.

Outside of dentistry she is a keen climber and enjoys mountain biking, running and walking with her husband in the Peak District where she lives with her 2 children.
