Same Day Implants

At SnapeHill Dental Studio and Implant Centre, our skilled dental clinicians are able to place Same Day Implants where suitable.

Same Day Implants – also sometimes referred to as immediate implants – can on occasion be used to replace a tooth that is in need of extraction. These types of implants are often placed in an emergency situation when patients are in need of a quick, effective, and safe tooth replacement.

Same Day Implants can only be placed in specific situations, however, and are only suitable if certain requirements are met. It is of vital importance that enough bone and gum support is present for a Same Day Implant to be placed, and they can usually only be used to replace an incisor, canine, or premolar. Same Day Implants cannot be used to replace molars, as the size of the hole that needs to heal after extraction is simply too large to be suitable.

We can determine whether you’re a suitable candidate for a Same Day Implant with a dental 3D CBCT scan. The scan will then be merged with the mouth so that we can accurately and precisely create a plan for your guided implant surgery via the 3D scan. Once this has been done, the tooth will be safely and gently extracted by our skilled dental clinicians and we will fit you for a temporary crown.

You will wear this temporary crown for 3-6 months before returning to the practice to make sure the implant has successfully fused with the jawbone. Once this has been determined, we can fit you for your permanent crown, leaving your smile with a fine, natural looking finish and returning your tooth to full function.
